Originally from Messina in Sicily, Maura Guerrera became familiar with Sicilian music in 1996, with musicians tinged with agro-pastoral traditions from the Peloritani Mountains. Throughout her meetings with shepherds, singers and friscalettu players (Reed flute), tammurieddu (sicilian tambourine), marranzanu (harpoon) or ciaramedda a paru (Sicilian bagpipes), she developed a passion for the transmission of this still unrecognized heritage, even in Sicily. Her skills as a teacher have led her to intervene, among others, for Suds’ Cultural Activites and the project "The world in Music ", in the schools of the department of Bouches-du-Rhône.

Start a passionate and enthralling journey through farmer songs from Southern Italy, descended from archaic repertoires (work songs, lullabies, sacred chants…), and through rhythmic basis of the tambourine. After listening to traditional songs of Sicily, Calabria, Apulia... and preparing your body and voice, this course open to everybody with a vocal practice will enable to work posture, placement of the voice, breath, but also to listen to and accompany with the tambourine!
