This Master Class is opened to everyone who practice choral music or polyphony offers to study some Sarde singings from oral tradition. From extracts of the sacred or secular repertory, you will discover the canto a cuncordu, a form of four- voices polyphony and the mutetos or mutos which is traditionely perfomed in monody, a capella or accompanied with instruments. The practice of ornements, melismas, voice and vocal timbre will allows you to apprehend the singing esthetic and to perform them with accurency while still respecting the expresive requirement of an unique repertory.
Goals :
To recognize the different type of polyphony and sacred Sarde singing (cantu a cuncordu et cantu a tenore, …)
To discover and learn the typical vocal techniques of cantu a cuncordu
To set up 3 or 4 plays of the collective fashion repertory
To execute in quartet the song that have been work on

Study of the traditional singing (sacred or secular)
Work on the earing (rhythm learning)
Learn about new songs : be in tune, styles, ornementation, voice and vocal timbre
Luca Nulchis
Issued from a big family of Sarde musicians, this composer, musician, singer and conductor took an interest to his native Island musical traditions at a young age. He studies the piano and composition at the Conservatory of Cagliari where he extend his knowledge during a course on athno-musicology. He founds in 1999 Andhir. The quatuor works in collaboration with multi-activity artists and draws inspiration in the traditional Sarde6 repertories to create new spaces of composition. Luca Nulchis is currently teaching piano and popular singing in Sardaigna. He also conveys his passion for Sarde polyphony during international seminaries or Master Classes in Italy along the students of Giovanna Marini’s Popular Singing School or in France for the Chantiers of Ethno-music.
